Reader Gene asks: Gary,
Pretty simple, Gene: if a stock is up 3% (before it's down 4%) from the previous day's close, it's a winner. If it's down 4%, a loser. If it hasn't hit either, I'll use a judgment call, but usually call those "unchanged." Sometimes I'll make an exception (like SMJ, which never hit a limit order), but otherwise, those are pretty much the rules.
